The view out Katie's front window.
Queen Lily guarding the house.
Since Ray passed away, I have really had some difficult times. It seems that each time I lose someone I love, I have to relive all of the losses of each loved one who has passed and believe it or not they are starting to add up.I know one needs time to mourn, but I just wasn't pulling out of it. I was doing better, but couldn't get back on top....I also came down with an infection that lasted 3 weeks...that didn't help at all...but I just needed an extra boost....so Steve said, "Go see Katie.".....and I did.
I drove over to California by myself and the time alone was good to think and just regroup....plus at the end of the trip I would have a few days with Katie. She had called and said she could use my help with the last stages of her move....when I got there she had all but the final couple of boxes moved, the sweeping and mopping...but we were able to do that in a relative short time...and then the fun stuff....hanging pictures in her new home, finding curtains, being creative with the sewing machine...cooking, laughing, getting Lily use to her new home....securing Lily in the backyard.....and making lists of all the little things we needed to do each day. Katie had 5 days off and we took advantage of them.
One of the neighbors complained about Lily barking....which I found strange, since Lily never barked hardly at all the whole time I was there....but it is a new location and she will have to get use to it...Katie didn't want to take any chances of ruining the new relationship with this neighbor, so she assured her she would take care of it and put Lily in a bark collar. That meant that she would have to find the bark collar and make sure it still worked. A new battery was put in it and then Katie gave it the big test....she put the collar on her own neck...and made a little noise...nothing happened....so she checked it and then barked a little louder....this time it beeped....and then whammo...it shocked her. The funny thing was that she acted so surprised that it got her....and she felt a little silly since of course it was going to shock, especially after the beep...remember Pavlov's Theory? If she had been thinking she could have removed it after the beep knowing that the shock was going to follow....it made me laugh so hard that I had tears .... and you know how much I love to laugh that way....We had a great time.
As all good things must come to an end....I had to return to Arizona and Katie had to return to work, but we had such fun! I drove to Laughlin spent the night and then drove the rest of the way the next day and arrived home yesterday. Today I started a 45 hour class the Arizona Department of Education requires to get recertified....sooooo onward and upward...here we go again!
