My BBQ Grill....and pizza

Have I ever told you... I love my BBQ grill. Yep, I cook on it ...probably....4 to 5 nights a week. I cook almost all of my meats there...except pot roast. I love the flavor, the smell, and the easy clean up...A WIRE BRUSH! I decided that I wanted to learn some new cooking techniques...I watch enough cooking shows that I should have one of my own...but I also research the Internet for specific ideas....I have found a new site that has great videos....maybe I blogged about making Italian sausage from scratch (or not) ...that was a great video from this same site...this morning I was fixated on my pizza oven construction idea...and thought I might be able to find a video on the topic...I didn't find one but I did find a neat video on how to do a brick oven pizza on your BBQ ....sounded good to me (http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-a-brick-oven-pizza-on-the-barbecue-242482/ ). I thought I would like to try it...well, as the day went on...Steve and I are still doing spring clean up in the yard....more pruning and one of my favorite jobs....mowing up the leaves with the riding mower...then power washing the back cement deck (I am not sure it did that much good, but it is better). During the process I ask Steve if we had any bricks with holes in them...he said there were some under the bench by the garage...I needed 6 and he brought them over to me....OK, now if you are a germ phobe....you may not want to read the rest of this....because I power washed the bricks, put them on the BBQ...took it up to 600 degrees and let them bake for 45 min......clean enough for me. Tonight I made the pizza dough and made a simple vegetarian pizza of sauce, cheese, basil garlic ricotta, onions and black olives on homemade pizza dough. The grill was up to about 500+ degrees. I baked the pizza for 10 min......and it was FABulous!! The crust got dark....but it didn't taste burnt...and it was ever so crunchy and good!!! Yum! Steve liked it too!

Look at those "clean" bricks on the grill....
Ready to go on the hot bricks....

Ready to come off the hot bricks....all burners on high...

Steve enjoying the pizza ....and I did too!!

If you are interested in the Italian sausage video...here it is.... http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-italian-sausage-131320/
I was interested in it to see what kind of spices were used...I wanted to make some Italian sausage type...turkey meatballs....I watched the video...used the spices and made the meatballs for my minestrone soup....it worked out just great.
