It's that time of the year again...and I am glad. Last year we did not plant a garden. We let the soil rest and added lots of nutrients...via good old horse stall donations....This year I am hoping that we will have a good harvest...especially tomatoes....I love to make homemade spaghetti sauce from scratch. There is nothing like it! I planted tomatoes - 3 kinds including cherry, peppers - jalapeno, harbanero, and one six pack of mystery peppers. I also planted zucchini and spaghetti squash.....and then we had some volunteer pumpkins come up from last fall's jack-o-lantern...so I am just letting them grow to see what happens. I am hoping the squash bugs don't move in and eat my plants to the nub....and if they start I am thinking I will spray. I have tried several organic remedies and not had any luck....so I will have to see. I know a few more gardeners this year, so maybe one of them will have a solution without resorting to chemicals....but I am sick of the bugs winning when it comes to the squash. Now it is time to watch my garden grow...and keep up on the weeds...if I don't they do take over, but if I hoe a little each morning I can keep them at bay. I love to be in the garden in the early morning. The birds are singing and my garden is in the shade at that time of the day....so it is very pleasant to work in. Well here's hoping all will grow and produce!
