I love seasonal flowers and Steve saw me looking at some, so the next day he bought me tulips...I also stopped to smell the stalks....the pink smell spicey. They always remind me of my Grandmother Williams. We use to buy them for her in the spring. Before Phoenix became so populated the land that runs along Baseline below South Mountain, was called the Japanese Flower Gardens. They planted fields of stalks, sweet peas, and callangilas (sp?). The rows of flowers made the fields look like a striped awning covering the land....all in spring colors. My mother and I would take an old #2 wash tub and put about 3 inches of water in it....while it was in the trunk and then we would drive over to the flower gardens. We would buy enough to fill the tub, which had about a 25 to 30 inch diameter. The smell was out of this world. When we got home momma would take them around to the relatives and especially to Grandma. It is one of my favorite memories. The more I think of it the more I realize, I need to go back and buy some of those stalks too.....love their smell. I should plant some sweet peas....they bring back many childhood memories and are also one of my favorite smells...ahhh, the day is young....I just might get it done!

What a great memory, and how nice of your mom to bring flowers to the relatives! MMM. I can just imagine the smell.
So sweet of Steve. He is really thoughtful that way!
